Caster Remote Control by Tech4home

Tech4home introduces the Caster Remote Control, a revolutionary approach to TV interaction that redefines the traditional remote control experience. Inspired by automotive design, the Caster Remote Control features flowing curves and organic shapes, offering a unique design language that prioritizes both brand awareness and outstanding functionalities for the TV operator, as well as ease-of-use and comfort for the end-user. This innovative remote control is designed for use with Telefonica Movistar TV service, providing users with a seamless and intuitive interaction experience.

The Caster Remote Control boasts a centrally arranged Directional Pad area and a striking Voice Command button, allowing users to interact with Aura, their virtual assistant. The reverse side of the remote features a soft coating for additional comfort and a secure grip, while the most frequently used buttons light up in dimly lit rooms. The remote control offers dual-mode interaction, combining traditional button clicks with sophisticated voice search technology, ensuring a complete and intuitive user experience. Additionally, a backlight system with pick-up and light sensors enhances the user experience, allowing for seamless interaction even in low-light conditions.

Developed through extensive research and collaboration with Telefonica, the Caster Remote Control project underwent various phases, from initial brainstorm meetings in Madrid to mechanical, electrical, and software development, as well as production and validation of samples. The product was first made available in stores across Spain in January 2020, following a successful mass production run in Asia in November 2019. The design process involved focus groups with end customers, extensive research within Telefonica's Call Centers, and overcoming the challenge of developing a cohesive, high-tech, and intuitive product that places the end-user at the center of the design language.
