Douyin PC: Revolutionizing Content Consumption on Mac and Windows

Douyin Experience Design Center proudly introduces the Douyin Desktop Application, a groundbreaking innovation that redefines content consumption on Mac and Windows. This new application seamlessly integrates the iconic Douyin brand DNA with the unique characteristics of PC equipment, offering users an unparalleled content consumption experience.

The Douyin PC includes both web and desktop applications, catering to the needs of computer users for large screen consumption in various scenarios. With a focus on recommended channels, live broadcasts, shopping, and private message interactions, Douyin PC aims to become the preferred choice for discovering and consuming content on computers.

Utilizing a combination of qualitative and quantitative tools, including user interviews, competitive product analysis, and data analysis, the design team leveraged Figma, Adobe After Effect, and Principle to create a unique desktop application and user interface. The application is designed for all MacOS and Windows desktop sizes, adopting an adaptive design to ensure a seamless user experience across different devices.

Incorporating an array of features such as left navigation for vertical channels, default opening of the recommended page, and seamless multitasking capabilities, Douyin PC offers a user-friendly and interactive interface. The project was launched in China in June 2021, with subsequent launches for the Windows and Mac applications in January 2022 and June 2022, respectively. The ongoing development process ensures continuous updates to meet evolving user needs.
