Mykolas Seckus and Antonio Gandolfo have revealed their latest creation, the 1x1 modular urban furniture system, designed to transform public spaces with flexibility and industrial style.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mykolas Seckus and Antonio Gandolfo have introduced the 1x1 modular urban furniture system, drawing inspiration from the post-industrial site Refshaleoen in Copenhagen. The design aims to address the lack of extensive public realm in the area through a series of small interventions, influenced by insights of scaffolding structure and Dieter Rams shelving system 606.
The 1x1 system is a unique modular urban furniture family, offering both stand-alone pieces and small-scale public realm with adjustable programs. Its flexibility, scalability, and industrial modular design make it suitable for permanent or temporary public space interventions. The use of standardized frame structure and common materials ensures high optimization.
The materials used include timber, concrete, and steel, with all elements manufactured off-site for convenient assembly. The system can function as individual furniture pieces or in groups, allowing for expansion or reduction based on specific spatial needs and changing requirements.
