PEDRO GALASO Unveils Joaquim, a Unique Carbon Steel and Pink Peroba Folding Screen

PEDRO GALASO, a renowned designer, pays homage to his mentor, Joaquim Tenreiro, with the launch of Joaquim, a versatile and sustainable folding screen. Inspired by Tenreiro's work, Joaquim is a multi-functional piece of furniture that seamlessly integrates into any space, offering a bookshelf, dividing screen, and mobile vertical garden in one. Crafted from carbon steel and pink peroba, Joaquim embodies strength, personality, and adaptability, catering to diverse audiences.

The artisanal process involved in creating Joaquim prioritized the expertise of master locksmiths and cabinetmakers. The piece features a tubular metal structure, galvanized carbon steel shelves, and a round pine base, meticulously crafted to ensure durability and functionality. With dimensions of 1788mm in height and various width configurations, Joaquim offers a unique and customizable experience.

Designed to promote interaction and sustainability, Joaquim represents a fusion of artistry and practicality. The project, initiated in January 2021 and completed in March 2021 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, involved extensive research into sustainable materials and innovative design elements. The use of carbon steel from steel industry remnants and pink peroba from demolished manors reflects the designer's commitment to environmental consciousness and resource efficiency.

Recognized for its exceptional design, Joaquim has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the outstanding creativity, technical prowess, and innovative approach demonstrated in the creation of Joaquim. The design's ability to seamlessly blend functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability has garnered widespread acclaim, positioning it as a remarkable addition to contemporary furniture design.
