FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wave, a residential house designed by Minwoo Ahn, stands as a testament to the seamless integration of architecture with the natural environment. The project's main objective was to provide a living experience inherent to a single detached dwelling, emphasizing a unique and visceral interaction with nature. The house features elements such as a front yard and pond, uncommon in urban complex housings, and focuses on the space in the landscape.
The unique properties of Wave lie in its embrace of the natural landscape drawn from the surrounding environment. The living area and bar were designed as fused spaces to facilitate both solitary and communal entertainment, while the presence of skylights in the basement floor's guest room enhances the bathing experience with natural light.
Realized with meticulous attention to detail, Wave's design features a harmonious blend of the staircase, glass railing, and post with the natural landscape scenery. The open kitchen on the first floor serves as a central space, accentuated by a prominent book matching hanging wall, while the linear pendant connected to the curvilinear form of the architectural exterior accentuates the space.
With a focus on user experience, Wave's design incorporates a shared open kitchen space for guests and a private scullery for the family, enhancing utility. The high front door and motorized blinds promote ease of use and customizable lighting, reducing repetitive housework and enhancing stability and aesthetic value for the user.
Minwoo Ahn's Wave project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness, contributing to quality of life improvements.
