Aedas unveils the iconic Hong Kong Port Passenger Clearance Building, a new gateway to the city
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aedas proudly presents the Hong Kong Port Passenger Clearance Building (PCB), a stunning cross-border crossing facility that serves as a vibrant gateway to Hong Kong. Inspired by the constant movement of people and surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, the PCB is designed to celebrate travel and provide efficient clearance facilities for goods and passengers using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
The PCB boasts a 310-meter long, 162-meter wide wave-form roof, constructed using an elegant modular design that allows for offsite pre-fabrication. This innovative approach has enabled an efficient construction process, achieving a very high level of quality. The structure is zoned into a series of bays, supported by a casting system with arms that hold up the structure, spanning 36m by 18m.
Located on an artificial island near the Hong Kong International Airport, the PCB is a new landmark building that reflects Hong Kong as a vibrant global and metropolitan city. It serves as a gateway to the western part of the Pearl River Delta via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, offering convenient air, road, rail, and sea transportation connectivity. The project commenced in December 2010 and was opened in October 2018.
This exceptional design has earned Aedas and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing their unmatched professionalism, innovation, and contribution to societal wellbeing. The PCB stands as a testament to transcendent excellence, advancing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology, making the world a better place.
