FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sunnest: Bedside Table Lamp with Breathing Light

Designed by King Him Ho, Sunnest is a bedside table lamp with a breathing light that offers behavioral interaction with users to reduce stress during sleeping. The lamp mimics the fading out of light of the natural phenomenon: Sunset, providing a soothing ambiance to fall asleep. The top part of the lamp can be twisted in an anti-clockwise way to make the light fade out, utilizing an iris shutter of the lens to create a gradual disappearance of light related to sunset, relieving the users.

The main body of the lamp is crafted using a lathe machine to rotate wood pieces, while the iris shutter mechanism is 3D printed. An Arduino board is connected to the light bulb to create the breathing light effect. The lamp measures 96mm in width, 96mm in depth, and 155mm in height.

The project, which started in early September 2022, was inspired by the need to address the high stress levels and poor sleeping quality among young adults in Hong Kong. Sunnest aims to provide a solution to these issues by offering a unique and innovative bedside lamp that promotes relaxation and improved sleep.
