Smarteat: Addressing Supply and Demand Imbalances in Smart Farming

YouJee Oh introduces Smarteat, an innovative open marketplace for smart farm vegetables. Smarteat is designed to address the supply and demand imbalances faced by small-scale and indoor farmers. The app allows farmers to monitor their smart farms, manage cultivation and transactions, and display real-time data. Farmers can also accept advance reservations from consumers. The app offers objective freshness checks and suggests free sharing or sale of vegetables with decreased freshness, reducing waste. Consumers can buy fresh produce with reliable information at reasonable prices.

During the design process, Figma was the main tool used to create low-fidelity wireframes, continually improved by testing with prototypes. The app is an iOS/Android-based service that connects a smart farm's IoT to a mobile device, providing accurate information on the freshness of vegetables and recommending appropriate trades based on this information. It also matches farmers and customers who have compatible conditions.

Smarteat allows users to connect their smart farm to their mobile device, enabling real-time monitoring and control. Farmers can receive purchase reservations, manage vegetable growing and trading, and automate vegetable management and trading, while consumers can obtain the freshest vegetables at a reasonable price with no distribution process. The project was completed in Seoul over a period of 6 weeks, culminating on December 21, 2022.

YouJee Oh's dedication to UX design is evident in Smarteat, as the app was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023. YouJee Oh's commitment to deepening their study of UX and participation in projects at school demonstrates a passion for creating new products and potentially pursuing a PhD in UX in the future.
