FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maria Joanna Juchnowska presents Kintsugi Ferrari Red, a unique piece from the Egg Vessels Collection. Crafted from porcelain and hand-painted in carat gold, this conversation piece is inspired by the timeless egg shape and the art of Kintsugi. The design allows for mobile decoration, mix and match possibilities, and transformation into a functional bowl or container. Its simple, compact design and ergonomic features make it a versatile and visually striking art piece.
The design process involved the fusion of classical Meissen decoration techniques with innovative mobile decoration functionality, allowing users to assemble the separate pieces in various controlled variations. The project commenced in 2017 at Meissen GmbH and continued in Jingdenzhen, China, through 2018 and 2019. Kintsugi Ferrari Red has received recognition at prestigious competitions, including an Honorable Mention at Cheongju International Craft Competition in 2021 and the Martinsons Award at Latvia Ceramics Biennial.
The design's unique challenge lay in creating two parts that fit perfectly and withstand high-temperature porcelain firings, reaching up to 1300 degrees Celsius. Overcoming initial deformations, the piece now stands as a symbol of resilience and beauty, embodying the essence of Kintsugi â the art of embracing imperfections and restoring with gold. Maria Joanna Juchnowska's design philosophy reflects in this unique piece, celebrating the beauty of restoration and the expressive potential of art.
