Palak Bhatt's Kala Foundation aims to showcase and promote Indian Folk Paintings to the international market, bridging the gap between artists and art enthusiasts.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Palak Bhatt's Kala Foundation is a new platform dedicated to promoting and showcasing the beauty of Indian Folk Paintings to a global audience. The foundation focuses on three distinct forms of Indian Folk Paintings: Madhubani painting from Bihar, Gond painting from Madhya Pradesh, and Warli painting from Maharashtra. The project, which commenced in December 2016 in San Francisco and concluded in December 2017, aims to make these traditional art forms more accessible to an international market.
Utilizing softwares such as Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Creative Cloud, the Kala Foundation has created a website, mobile app, and an in-person exhibit to bridge the gap between the artists and art enthusiasts. The foundation's website provides insights into the process and techniques of Indian folk paintings, while the app allows art enthusiasts to find and order paintings with customization options.
One of the main challenges faced during the project was overcoming the language barrier between the Indian Folk artists and the US market. The Kala Foundation has successfully addressed this challenge by providing exposure to the artists and supporting their livelihood, ultimately connecting these paintings to a larger audience.
Palak Bhatt's Kala Foundation has been recognized with the prestigious A' Design Award in 2021, highlighting the remarkable level of excellence and innovation in promoting and showcasing Indian Folk Paintings to the global market.
