Wu-Su Interior Design has artfully crafted Jian Sushi, a Japanese restaurant in Taiwan, to embody the essence of the Japanese spirit in a modern and aesthetic way. The space, designed by Chun-Yu Chang, seamlessly integrates artwork, cuisine, and the owner's craftsmanship, creating a unique and immersive dining experience.
Upon entering the 135-square-meter restaurant, guests are greeted by a black-grey tonal ambiance that sets the stage for the carefully directed lighting, which illuminates various art pieces and cuisines. The design not only caters to visual experiences but also considers auditory senses, with specially placed absorptive materials to control sound diffusion.
The use of architectural concrete, yakisugi bans, rusted ironware, and non-formaldehyde, non-VOC cement paints, along with metal-imitating tiles, creates a space that reflects the client's preference for natural materials and traditional Japanese building techniques. The restaurant includes a dining area, a VIP room, an itamae, a pantry, a kitchen, a hand-washing area, and a bathroom, all meticulously designed to enhance the overall dining experience.
Chun-Yu Chang's design also addresses the operational and functional aspects of the restaurant, with a specially constructed itamae area that embodies the client's traditional Japanese craftsman spirit. The VIP area features a push door for increased privacy, while precise lighting arrangements guide guests towards the art pieces and cuisines, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Wu-Su Interior Design's innovative approach to the Jian Sushi project has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2022, showcasing the team's exceptional expertise and creativity in delivering a remarkable and immersive dining space.
