Henan Illustration: Reviving Traditional New Year Pictures

WangYisu's Henan Illustration project breathes new life into traditional Chinese New Year wood-block prints from Zhuxian Town, Henan Province. The team's visit to Zhuxian inspired a collection of photos, serving as the foundation for this innovative project.

By infusing their own creativity and vision, the team reimagined the classic figures in the pictures to resonate with the aesthetic preferences of younger generations, aiming to reignite interest in this fading art form.

The project involved drawing character lines on an iPad and transferring them to Photoshop for colorization, resulting in a series of five highly saturated illustrations showcasing classic Zhuxian Town New Year picture characters in a flat style.
