Chinese Sports Illustration Project by Yanliu Cui

Yanliu Cui's latest project, the Chinese Sports Illustration, draws inspiration from traditional Chinese sports, aiming to showcase the wisdom and creativity of ancient Chinese ancestors. The illustrations depict various traditional sports such as "acrobatics", "Cuju", "equestrian", "Five poultry opera", and "throwing", each reflecting distinct Oriental cultural characteristics.

The set of illustrations uniquely combines a sense of historical weight with a vibrant kinetic vitality, effectively capturing the charm of Oriental culture. The sketches were meticulously drawn in pencil, then scanned and digitally enhanced using Photoshop. The final printing specifications for the illustrations are set at a height of 800mm and width of 800mm, with a data size of 1800mm x 800mm, at 300dpi in RGB.

Yanliu Cui's project was initiated in December 2022 at Northeast University in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, and was completed in February 2023. The illustrations were released on the internet to attract the public and showcase the allure of traditional Chinese sports.
