ALICE XI ZONG Introduces a Collection of Book Editions Inspired by Traditional Chinese Painting & Calligraphy
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALICE XI ZONG, a renowned visual/graphic designer, introduces a collection of book editions inspired by traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. The collection, published by Nanjing Zhuzi Art Museum, showcases the treasured artistic and practical appeal of traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy. Through abstract shapes, colors, and lines, ZONG highlights the blank space in the sketch, creating a consistent sensuality that effortlessly coincides with traditional painting and calligraphy styles.
For this project, ZONG interviewed artists and collected their works to feature in the books. Each book features different themes and logos, with the layout done in Adobe InDesign. The application was created using photography and Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom CC. The softcover editions measure 10 inches in width and 13 inches in height.
The collection, which started in February 2019 and finished in May 2019, was developed in both China and the U.S. and published by ZHUZI Art Center. ZONG's research involved traveling back to China, visiting multiple cities, and learning about authentic traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. The main challenge of the project was to balance the authenticity of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy with a visually pleasing modern design layout. ZONG successfully blended both styles, creating a unique, delicate Chinese style of impressionistic that showcases the exquisite elegance and cultural implication of China.
