MPR Associates, Inc. unveils the AdaptDx Pro, a wearable dark adaptometer designed to transform the experience of testing for age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The device, equipped with AI-driven guidance and precision optics, replaces the traditional tabletop device, offering a comfortable and personalized testing environment for patients and eye care professionals.
The AdaptDx Pro is a result of over 20,000 hours of development effort by a team of engineers and designers, packed into a tight 16-month schedule. The device's breakthrough design includes a comfortable padded head strap, adjustable eye cups, and an onboard technician (Theia) using AI to provide self-guided tests.
Critical engineering activities involved industrial and optical design optimization, circuit board design, and mechanical design for approximately 30 injection-molded parts. The device's precision optics modules are aligned with the patientâs pupil using infrared camera technology, ensuring accurate testing and patient comfort.
