Discover the harmonious and innovative residential architecture project, Piren, designed by Maciej Basalygo in Poznan, Poland, awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2023.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maciej Basalygo's Piren is a residential architecture project that harmonizes with its surroundings through the interpenetration of functional zones, facilitating mutual relations between the residents. The space, built of natural materials and enriched with individually designed furniture elements, offers peace and intimacy. The entire functioning of the facility is supervised by intentionally hidden technology that controls the quality of air, light, temperature, and sound.
The project, spanning approximately 450 square meters over three floors, showcases a unique blend of materials, including specially tinted ash wood, granite floor slabs, and transparent protective glass. The design work, which lasted 12 months, was inspired by conversations with the owners about their passions, experiences, and plans, translating into spatial solutions based on the analysis of light, materials, proportions, and sound propagation.
Designing to shape emotions and create spatial images, Piren is not only a response to existential needs but a plan designed to stand the test of time and intrigue the residents. By freely opening and closing the glass openings, residents can control the symbiosis of architecture and the outside, allowing for an immersive experience.
