Architect Hactor Kabo Malete's latest project, "Worm," draws inspiration from the Mophane Worm and its relationship with the Mophane Tree, creating a unique integrated center that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Architect Hactor Kabo Malete's "Worm" design is a groundbreaking integrated center that takes inspiration from the Mophane Worm, a local delicacy in Botswana, and its symbiotic relationship with the Mophane Tree. The building's innovative design mimics the body shape of the worm, creating a central circular courtyard with a leisure pool and relaxing spaces. The structure's exterior opens up to the natural landscape, fostering a seamless connection with the environment.
The 1,180 square meter building, set to be constructed in the outskirts of Letlhakane, Botswana, features sustainable construction materials such as compressed earth blocks, thatched roof, and locally sourced stones, promoting natural cooling, ventilation, and lighting while embracing the region's cultural heritage.
Notably, the project has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in 2023, celebrating its practical and innovative design that integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
