Time Lamp: Redefining Time Management with Light

Peng Ren's Time Lamp is a groundbreaking fusion of form and function, drawing inspiration from the hourglass to create an interactive table light that communicates a sense of time's passing. The lamp features a rotating lampshade that serves as an interactive switch, seamlessly integrating lighting and timing to deliver a unique and practical design.

Unlike traditional desk lamps, the Time Lamp doubles as a timing tool, allowing users to start timing by simply rotating the lighting area. This innovative approach not only illuminates the space but also serves as a reminder of the value of time, making it an essential addition to any workspace or living area.

Constructed using ultrasonically welded translucent acrylic material with optical grain, the lampshade ensures uniform illumination while maintaining transparency. The electronic components utilize gravity induction and electronic slip rings to achieve precise control and multi-wire linkage without tangling.

Measuring 147x139x318mm, the Time Lamp is powered by a 2500mAh battery and offers two light color temperatures (4200k and 3200K) at 3.7v, catering to diverse lighting needs.

When in use, the Time Lamp offers three distinct states: adjusting lighting color temperatures, selecting the desired time mode, and turning the light on or off with ease. This intuitive functionality enhances user experience and promotes efficient time management.

The Time Lamp project commenced in 2019 with the ideation phase, followed by extensive design and production efforts in 2020 and 2021, culminating in the realization of this innovative timepiece.

Ren's research into time management and the impact of the internet era inspired the development of the Time Lamp, aiming to address the challenges of time wasting and procrastination. The product's unique features and interactive design were met with technical challenges, particularly in the circuit design of the fully enclosed lampshade and supporting frame.

Ren's dedication to redefining the concept of lighting products led to the creation of the Time Lamp, which received the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021. This accolade recognizes the design's exceptional innovation and technical excellence, setting a new standard for lighting products and fixtures.
