Introducing Sleeve: A comprehensive workstation kit designed for travelers who work remotely, engineered to enhance productivity and comfort on the go.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shubhangi Chuhadia introduces "Sleeve," a comprehensive workstation kit designed for travelers who work remotely. With the rise of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an increasing number of travelers who work while on the go. Sleeve provides a solution to make work and travel trips more comfortable, productive, and organized for these travelers.
The Sleeve is a laptop accessory for travelers that includes a productivity screen extending beyond the device, providing a better work experience. This screen serves as an alternative to dual-screen monitor systems, allowing travelers to pack lighter while on the move. Additionally, the kit includes an organizing module and a comfort module to address challenges faced while working and traveling, enabling a more productive and comfortable work experience on-the-go.
The productivity module of the Sleeve features a touch display screen encased in a CNC milled aluminum cover with a 180-degree hinge for easy opening and rotation. The incline of the comfort module is designed with a stamp cut plastic, and a foam-padded extension is added for incline support. The organization module includes elastic pockets, one of which is designed to hold a wireless charging system.
The screen of the productivity module is designed to fit over a 13-inch laptop screen with a width of 320mm and a height of 50mm. The organizing module has a matching width of 320mm and pocket depth of 100mm. The comfort module is designed to fit the base of the same laptop and provides a 50mm incline for comfortable use. All the modules have been specifically tailored to fit and complement the dimensions of a 13-inch laptop, providing a seamless and comfortable user experience.
Installing the Sleeve is easy - remove the tape and stick the modules to your laptop. Double-tap the touch display to turn it on and use it as a double screen monitor. For the comfort module, place your laptop on it and lift up the incline. For the organizing module, place things for organizing and on-the-go charging in the elastic pockets.
This project was completed in 2 months starting in March 2022 in San Francisco, Bay Area. Shubhangi Chuhadia conducted a research study on the workcation experiences of 14 individuals and identified three primary challenges they faced: difficulty organizing work materials while traveling, discomfort when working in cafes not designed for work, and distraction caused by the vacation atmosphere. To address these issues, she examined existing solutions in these areas and used them as a basis for her own ideation.
As a chemical engineer turned industrial designer, Shubhangi Chuhadia has a unique perspective on the integration of scientific principles, technological advancements, and creative expression. Through her multidisciplinary approach, she skillfully crafts products that perfectly complement and enhance new and emerging technologies. Her passion for the intersection of these fields drives her to constantly innovate and create products that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and practical.
