Kazunori Kiryu's residential project in Niigata, Japan, harmonizes modern living with traditional aesthetics, creating a unique urban oasis.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kazunori Kiryu's "House in Niigata" redefines urban living by seamlessly blending modern comfort with traditional aesthetics. Situated in an old residential area in Niigata, Japan, this private residence stands out with its innovative approach to harmonizing with the surrounding cityscape while incorporating elements of nature.
The house, with a site area of 158.60m2 and a floor area of 104.34m2, features a wooden outer wall material lightly colored in gray, complementing the old townscape. The design includes two gardens, creating a private space for the family of four living in the house.
Constructed using traditional wooden construction methods, the project began in 2017 and was completed in 2018. The design incorporates a courtyard on the first floor and a roof terrace on the second floor, providing a seamless connection with the outdoors while maintaining privacy.
Kiryu's vision for the "House in Niigata" was to create a space where residents can feel nature in their daily lives. By carefully balancing openness and privacy, the design maximizes natural light and ventilation, eliminating the need for curtains and fostering a strong connection with the outdoors.
