Environment Day Window Display: A Symbol of Sustainability

Gravity Design and Arçelik have unveiled a striking window display designed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability. The display, located at the Arcelik Store in Kadikoy, Istanbul, is a powerful visual representation of the impact of drought and the loss of natural resources on the Earth.

The design features a hand-made drought wall, symbolizing the hope for a sustainable future amidst dry soil. The "greenfield" concept, penetrating the "dryland," serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for action to protect the environment. Notably, 98.2% of the display is crafted from sustainable and organic materials, aligning with Arçelik's commitment to environmental responsibility.

Created in Istanbul, the window display project commenced in April 2021 and was completed in June 2021, coinciding with Environment Day on June 5th. The display continues to captivate and inspire visitors, urging them to embrace responsible consumption and join efforts to conserve Earth's resources.

The project presented unique challenges, particularly in the creation of the soil background. A local clay artist meticulously crafted the drought wall, which was "sundried" for a week to achieve its distinctive fissured appearance. The dedication to using sustainable materials and the intricate design process exemplify Arçelik's unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship.

Recognized for its exceptional design, the window display received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2022. This accolade acknowledges the display's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards, further cementing its status as a symbol of sustainable design excellence.
