FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Bank of England has revealed a new visual identity system designed to better reflect its values, purpose, and mission, aiming to connect with a broader audience. The updated visual identity, led by Matteo Ruisi and his design team, focuses on accessibility, relevance, structure, and distinctiveness.
The new logo features a dyslexia-friendly type, while the Britannia seal has been redesigned to be more welcoming and inclusive. The color palette is inspired by the banknotes, and photography reflects the design of the Bank's notes. Notably, the Bank collaborated with staff and accessibility charities throughout the design process.
Utilizing Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Frontify.com, HTML, and CSS, the new visual identity has been realized to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all audiences, including those with color blindness and dyslexia.
The project, which commenced in 2020 during the pandemic, was entirely conducted remotely, allowing seamless collaboration with all relevant teams. The new visual identity is a testament to the Bank's commitment to clear and open communication, reflecting a significant step towards engaging a wider public audience.
