Architect Hiromoto Oki Unveils Stunning Quayside Museum in Tanabe, Wakayama, Japan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned architect Hiromoto Oki has unveiled a breathtaking quayside museum in Tanabe, Japan, inspired by the sea's surface and environmental issues. The museum, designed to stand with the local community, offers a unique visual experience, appearing to float on the sea from a boat and swaying gracefully from a car. The facility aims to be a cultural center and a vital area for recreation, embracing the waterfront environment and nature around it.
Constructed with steel, terracotta, glass, and aluminum, the museum boasts a total floor area of 977.45m2, with dimensions of 27.5m in width, 36.2m in length, and 9m in height. The design reflects extensive research on the historical significance of Mori Bay and its importance to the local community, aiming to coexist with nature and positively impact marine activities and the waterfront without spoiling the landscape.
Hiromoto Oki's innovative approach has earned the museum the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements and makes the world a better place.
