Solidarity: A Ring Inspired by the Woman, Life, Freedom Movement

Mehdi Moazzen's "Solidarity" ring is a stunning tribute to the powerful Iranian women during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. The artwork features interwoven bare wires representing the tresses of Iranian women, standing around the Earth adorned with stones of different colors, symbolizing racial diversity. At the heart of the planet, two birds of freedom have nested, encapsulating the essence of solidarity and freedom.

All parts of the artwork are handmade, allowing the ring to be used in two forms: a full sphere or a hemisphere with two golden birds. The materials used include silver, bare gold wires, and synthetic gemstones. The intricate design and opening mechanism posed significant creative and technical challenges for the artist.

The project, which began in October 2022 and concluded in February 2023 in Iran, was inspired by the recent events in Iran and the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. The design reflects the significant role of women in Iranian and global art and mythology, paying homage to the strength and resilience of Iranian women.
