Rhapsody: A Modern Revival of Middle-Eastern Culture

Arash Raad's Rhapsody necklace draws inspiration from the intricate Islamic geometric patterns that have evolved over centuries in the Middle East and North Africa. The sculptural folds and ruffles reflect the vicissitudes of history and life of these people, embodying both glory and pain. Made with traditional techniques and materials in Mashhad, Iran, Rhapsody is a modern wearable sculpture that pays homage to Islamic geometry while catering to today's elegant and stylish tastes.

The design process involved extensive research into Islamic geometry sources to select patterns for development. The jewelry is hand-crafted with traditional techniques and material, ensuring a blend of authenticity and novelty. The project commenced in February 2020, with the first sample produced in December 2020, and has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021.

Arash Raad, a jewelry designer and engineer from Mashhad, Iran, combines his engineering background with a deep understanding of traditional motifs and vernacular to create handmade jewelry that embodies both authentic and contemporary aspects. His work has been recognized for its outstanding expertise, innovation, and ability to convey positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
