2m2 architects introduces Sista House, a unique rental housing project designed to provide a comfortable and sensuous living environment for young women in Seoul, South Korea.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2m2 architects presents Sista House, a groundbreaking rental housing project in Sinsu-dong, Seoul. The exterior resembles a red brick castle, exuding strength and safety, while the interior offers a cozy and comfortable living space. The project, completed in February 2020, aims to address the housing needs of young women in their 20s and 30s in a dangerous residential area with many old houses.
The unique aspect of Sista House lies in its individualized spaces, catering to the diverse tastes of female residents. The flat composition of households includes one-room houses, two-room houses, houses with an outside yard, and houses with high ceilings, offering a variety of living options within a limited area.
Despite the challenges posed by the limited area and budget, Sista House stands out with its distinct character in each space. The common staircase features rough exposed concrete walls and stone burner floor finishing, emphasizing the texture of the material itself and avoiding unnecessary embellishments.
With a building area of 67sqm and a gross floor area of 206sqm, Sista House spans 5 floors with a height of 15.60m. The project, which commenced in January 2019, was realized in Seoul, South Korea, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful design considerations.
Recognized for its innovative approach, Sista House received the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2021. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the project's outstanding creativity and its contribution to improving the quality of life through exemplary design practices.
