Kun Tang's innovative residential design, "The Ark of Future," blends functionality and aesthetics to create a multi-functional living space that promotes family interaction and comfort.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kun Tang's "The Ark of Future" draws inspiration from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's design concept, the Space of Flows. The design seamlessly connects the kitchen, dining room, and living room into a public activity space, providing over 100 square meters of space for family interaction and gatherings of friends. The four bedrooms are strategically positioned to ensure privacy and comfort while offering stunning views of the river and mountains.
What sets this design apart is its unique approach to creating an open public space while maintaining the essential living functions for the family. The semi-partitioned space-cutting method fosters great interaction and transparent vision. Additionally, the incorporation of Chinese painting techniques enhances the view of the river landscape outside the window, adding an artistic touch to the space.
Utilizing a minimalist approach, the design features a simple spatial structure with ample blank space, providing a flexible framework for the changing living conditions of the owners. The use of pure vertical segments, squares, and the golden section matrix contributes to a fashionable and balanced aesthetic. The space exudes a simple, natural, and bright atmosphere through the use of materials such as cement, wood, and stone, while strategically placed light sources enhance the inherent colors and textures of the space.
The interior design spans an area of 188 square meters and incorporates hidden wine and cigar cabinets in the kitchen area, expanding its functions to serve as a restaurant, bar, tearoom, and rest hall. This integrated area becomes the focal point for family communication and gatherings, enriching the residents' daily lives.
The design project, located in Yunyan District, Guiyang City, China, was completed in October 2020 after a year-long duration from October 2019 to November 2019. The design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding creativity and ingenious approach to interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
