Andrés Mariño Maza Unveils the Nina & Beni Chair
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Andrés Mariño Maza introduces the Nina & Beni chair, a stunning piece inspired by the efficient yet beautiful forms of wooden naval structures. This chair, a testament to sustainability, was launched in September 2019 and showcased at The Stockholm Furniture Fair in January and the London Design Fair in September.
The Nina & Beni chair is a unique creation that stands out due to its innovative design and sustainable sourcing. Crafted from 100% sustainably sourced forests, the chair features two steam-bent strips that serve as legs, armrests, and mold to the lumbar area, showcasing the designer's commitment to both functionality and aesthetics.
Utilizing advanced technology, the chair's complex geometry is achieved through a 5-axis CNC process. The solid wood strips are steam bent to form, and 3D lamination is then carried out using CNC-cut counter molds. The chair's dimensions are W 560 x H 720 x L 500mm, and it weighs 8 kg (unboxed). The main materials used include ash, cherry, oak, or walnut, finished with natural oils and waxes.
Andrés Mariño Maza's dedication to sustainability is evident in the Nina & Beni chair, as it is designed to last a lifetime and features a removable and interchangeable seat. The chair's construction minimizes waste, making it an environmentally conscious choice for consumers.
Andrés Mariño Maza, a Spanish architect and designer, established MARINOMAZA Studio in 2018, focusing on developing unique furniture, lighting, and architecture with a strong emphasis on ecology and sustainability. The Nina & Beni chair has received the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and trendsetting design that reflects the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
