Scacco Matto: Redefining Home Lighting

Renowned designer Francesco Cappuccio introduces Scacco Matto, a portable lamp that blurs the boundaries between art and design, drawing inspiration from the 1960s radical design movement. This innovative project encourages audacious investigations of color, texture, and form, offering five different settings of light reminiscent of chess, hence the name Scacco Matto, the Italian translation of checkmate.

Scacco Matto's unique properties lie in its ability to create various light sculptures by combining three magnetically connected elements. From an occasional vase to a sculptural dinner light, this portable lamp inspires new interests in how light can transform the look, feel, and atmosphere of homes, inviting audiences to explore and interact with shapes and light.

The lamp, produced in Aluminum, incorporates LEDs and a 3.7V 4400mAh-16.28wh USB rechargeable battery, making it suitable for outdoor use (IP 64). With dimensions of Width 116mm, Depth 116mm, and Height 281mm, the lamp offers both focused light and ambient atmosphere, providing a versatile lighting solution for any space.
