Cosmos More Unveils Kyotology, a Hotel Design Project in Kyoto, Japan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cosmos More introduces Kyotology, a unique hotel design project inspired by the concept of shadows in Japanese architecture. The project, located in Kyoto, Japan, aims to offer tourists an authentic experience of traditional accommodation while contributing to the local economy.
The design team, led by Naoto Doi of Cosmos More, collaborated with GENETO Architects Office to create a space that intertwines exterior and interior, incorporating gardens into every room to establish a brand that reflects the heritage of Kyoto.
The hotel's realization technology includes the use of vertical lines and standing seam roofs to emphasize changing shadows throughout the day, while ensuring privacy for guests by strategically placing windows to avoid direct eye contact with neighbors.
The project, which commenced in January 2018, faced challenges in adhering to Kyoto city's strict architectural regulations, but ultimately succeeded in creating a space that encourages guests to unwind, explore, and immerse themselves in the rich culture and history of Kyoto.
