Akira Koyama Introduces Innovative Apartment Complex in Tokyo

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Akira Koyama Redefines Urban Living with Fudomae Apartment

Akira Koyama, in collaboration with key industry players, has unveiled the Fudomae Apartment, a groundbreaking complex in Tokyo, Japan. The design focuses on maximizing natural light and airflow, meeting the evolving needs of post-coronavirus urban dwellers.

The five-storey apartment complex features 14 units and is strategically located along a small local commercial avenue in Tokyo. The design incorporates six vertical voids that bring natural light into each unit, creating a heartening indoor environment. This innovative approach addresses the challenge of securing effective openings for daylight access, especially in urban settings surrounded by neighboring properties.

Utilizing extruded cement panels and a water-jet chipped finish, the street facade rises four stories as a structural wall, ensuring privacy for the sleeping quarters. The design also includes provisions for pet owners, with a loft and steps for cats located near the windows facing the voids, catering to the increasing desire for comfort from pets in the post-Covid-19 era.

The Fudomae Apartment project is a testament to Akira Koyama's commitment to redefining urban living, incorporating innovative design elements to enhance the quality of life for residents. The project was initiated in July 2019 and completed in July 2020, with a focus on addressing the challenges posed by the pandemic and the increasing demand for comfortable, well-ventilated living spaces.
