Short animation created by Hao Li for UNICEF and Generation United to raise awareness about gender inequality in internet access
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hao Li, in collaboration with UNICEF and Generation United, has created a short animation addressing the gender disparity in internet access, particularly in remote areas. The animation compares the internet access of boys and girls in developed and underdeveloped regions, highlighting the challenges faced by girls in remote areas. The project commenced in 2019 and was completed in 2020 in New York.
The animation, entirely computer-generated, aims to simplify complex data into a compelling narrative, making it more accessible to a wider audience. Through symbolic graphics and storytelling, the animation showcases the impact of UNICEF's efforts in helping young girls access the internet, ultimately aiming to draw attention to the issues expressed in the video.
Hao Li's love for animation and his desire to use this medium to effect positive change led to the creation of this impactful short animation. The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding creativity, technical excellence, and ability to evoke positive emotions and wonder.
