FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Takafumi Miki introduces ARCH-ABLE, a groundbreaking typeface designed to revolutionize 3D typography creation. Inspired by the boom in Japan's digital fabrication DIY culture, ARCH-ABLE is a platform to archive and distribute digital data of architectsâ designs. This typeface is beginner-friendly and digital fabrication friendly, featuring stencil style shapes with all corners rounded for compatibility with various tools.
ARCH-ABLE is a game-changer for digital fabrication creators, offering 26 letters, 10 numbers, and 26 symbols. Its unique design allows for easy reproduction of architectsâ designs, making it a valuable addition to the digital fabrication landscape.
This project, which took place from November 2018 to January 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, addresses the challenges faced by creators in engraving typefaces due to right-angle corners. Takafumi Miki and the design team overcame strict rules and technical challenges to create a beautiful, conceptual, and digital fabrication friendly typeface.
