RafaÅ Czaniecki Unveils SVPER11 Watch Inspired by NASA Apollo11 Mission
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RafaÅ Czaniecki introduces SVPER11, a wristwatch commemorating the NASA Apollo11 mission. The watch's face features a 3D topographic representation of the landing site - Mare Tranquilitatis, while the unique 4-arm seconds hand resembles a radar marking the exact location of the landing. The crown, inspired by NASA spacesuit oxygen valves, and the case back made of technical ceramic pay homage to the mission's significance.
The SVPER11 watch is a celebration of the NASA Apollo11 mission, one of the most inspiring achievements in human history. The face is a 3D topographic representation of the landing site area - Mare Tranquilitatis. The unique 4-arm seconds hand and sweeping motion movement resembles a radar constantly marking the exact location of the landing. The crown took a shape of oxygen valves from the NASA spacesuit and case back is made out of technical ceramic - a reference to NASA Shuttle ceramic shield.
Thanks to detailed maps of the Moon, RafaÅ Czaniecki was able to recreate a topographic 3D map of the Mare Tranquilitatis, where the mission crew landed. The face of the watch has multiple 0.1mm steps that are shaped to represent the terrain. The case back, made from technical ceramics, needed multiple tries to achieve the proper thickness of embossed elements, considering the production process and the brittleness of the material.
The SVPER11 watch measures 42mm x 42mm x 12mm and features diver-grade submersion properties. The crown is constructed with a double-lock mechanism, allowing for easy time adjustment and ensuring water-tightness up to 10ATM. The watch is designed for easy maintenance or battery replacement, with 8 screws for easy access.
The project started in 2016 and debuted publicly at Watch Fair 2019 in Hong-Kong, following a successful Kickstarter campaign. The watch's design required extensive research to properly replicate the Apollo11 mission landing area and the elements inspired by the mission, such as the crown and case back.
RafaÅ Czaniecki, a UI Designer at HARMAN International, has successfully funded his watch design via Kickstarter campaign. The SVPER11 watch was awarded Silver in A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation.
