Environment-Oriented Branding for Terra Coffee Roasters

Terra Coffee Roasters, a brand based in Osaka, Japan, has launched a new environmentally conscious branding concept designed by Akihito Shimizu. The mission behind the design is to provide consumers with an experience that reflects the production area, embodying a sincere attitude towards creative and sustainable design.

The branding features a curved logo design that evokes the natural aroma of coffee, aiming to offer a high-quality and environmentally friendly coffee experience. The label design incorporates local photographs to visually connect producers and consumers, conveying the unique appeal of coffee from different production areas.

The packaging is designed to be recyclable or reusable, with a focus on protecting the special soil and environment of the production areas. The main container is a reusable glass bottle, and the label showcases the producer's face and the state of the production area, allowing consumers to immerse themselves in the world of coffee beans.

Consumers can engage with the brand by choosing their favorite coffee brand and country, learning about the history and background of the coffee beans and production areas, and sharing the process with the barista. Additionally, a subscription service is available for bean replenishment, allowing consumers to change the label and explore the world of coffee without unnecessary movement.

The brand, which started in October 2021, currently operates two stores in Osaka, Japan. The design concept aims to address the low environmental awareness in Japan by offering a sustainable and engaging coffee experience.

Akihito Shimizu, the designer behind the concept, emphasizes the importance of conveying the reality of the production areas without abstraction, aiming to create a design that fosters a desire for environmental friendliness among consumers.
