Capsule Lighting System: A Modern Approach to Home Lighting

Sushant Vohra introduces Capsule, a revolutionary lighting system that redefines home illumination. The Capsule Lighting system is designed to be extremely adaptable, utilizing the phenomenon of light refraction through various materials to create a versatile range of visual effects. This innovative approach caters to modern user needs while minimizing parts and production complexity. The project commenced in September 2021 and was completed in January 2022, with all development taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Capsule lighting system is a series of modular lighting solutions for the home, offering flexibility and easy re-configurability to cater to a variety of use cases, including productivity, entertainment, and ambiance. It features a unique pressure fit attachment feature that enables the main lighting module to create distinctive archetypes when combined with different base modules. The lighting module is designed to be handheld, with dimensions of 88mm x 24mm, and is complemented by two mounts: a 130mm wide and 330mm tall desktop base, and a 65mm wide and 110mm tall ceiling mount. When used together, the configurations exude a sleek and modern aesthetic without visual bulk.

The Capsule lighting module functions as a handheld flashlight, with a rotating ring for adjusting brightness levels. Additionally, the USB connection facilitates easy recharging. The system also allows for the interchangeability of lighting diffusers, offering users the flexibility to customize their lighting experience. The design's form factor and attachment mechanism were meticulously developed to ensure simplicity and versatility, resulting in a minimalist yet functional lighting solution.

Sushant Vohra's Capsule Lighting System has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category, underscoring its remarkable innovation and impact on the world of design.
