Floating Chip: A Modern Library Redefining Urban Spaces

ITALY -- /DESIGN/newswire -- Aug 03, 2019

Zhang Jinyu's innovative "Floating Chip" library, a contemporary architectural marvel, redefines urban spaces with its unique design and functionality.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Zhang Jinyu's "Floating Chip" Library

Zhang Jinyu's "Floating Chip" library is a groundbreaking architectural project that challenges traditional building norms. Inspired by the need to create a more open and flexible urban space, the design aims to become a city business card, offering a highly adaptable and inviting environment for citizens.

Featuring a free and horizontal floor, the library utilizes steel truss roof technology to suspend the floor, creating a visually stunning and structurally innovative space. This design choice allows for a seamless interaction between people and space, fostering a highly flexible cross-cultural atmosphere.

The "Floating Chip" library measures 100m x 45m x 25m and was completed in Guangzhou in March 2012. It was later exhibited at the 2014 Shenzhen Biennale, showcasing its forward-thinking approach to contemporary architecture and urban design.

Studio Zhang, led by Zhang Jinyu, is a renowned freelance design studio with a focus on architectural and interior design. With a strong emphasis on the relationship between the built environment and the interior, the studio has garnered recognition in local and international design competitions, contributing to urban development and renewal initiatives.
