FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kai-Hung Yang's "The River is Everywhere" project is a testament to the fusion of natural inspiration and minimalist design philosophy. Inspired by the geography of the site and the spiritual journey of self-discovery depicted in "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse, the design creates a journey on the river for the flow of space of the owners. The living room's refined textures and the wooden private space evoke scenes from the river, offering a boundary between the rivers and caves.
The design was realized using hand-craft plaster and specialist trades, creating a series of surfaces and textures that reflect the natural inspiration. The space's open floor plan is accentuated by a bespoke dining counter crafted from marble and plastic sheet, adding a sculptural element that reflects natural light and shadow movements.
The project, which started in April 2020 and finished in May 2021, is a result of in-depth research on the Xin Dian area along the river, dating back to 1909. Overcoming creative and technical challenges, the design team successfully aligned comfort and simplicity, creating an artful lesson in minimalist interior design.
