WHYIXD Unveils "Heaven Bloom" Kinetic Installation

WHYIXD, a cross-field art installation design team from Taiwan, has unveiled "Heaven Bloom," a kinetic installation inspired by the Nanhu Rhododendron. The installation, located in the lobby of a building in Taichung City, Taiwan, is a dynamic piece composed of 144 mechanical metal flowers that sway to the rhythm of the lobby’s background music.

The Nanhu Rhododendron, which only grows in one of 100 mountain peaks in Taiwan, served as the primary inspiration for "Heaven Bloom." The adaptive nature of the plant in extreme climates on high mountains, transitioning from a rusty yellow color to white snowflake-like blooms, symbolizes the vitality of Taiwan.

Each flower of the installation is made up of over 50 mechanical components, utilizing aluminum and stainless steel with different finishes to produce special textures and colors. The flowers are set to four different melodies corresponding to the four seasons, creating a near-natural mesmeric scenario indoors.
