Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Green Building Designed for Subtropical Climate

Spu Design international proudly presents "Green Generations," a 595 square meter residential space designed with a focus on eco-friendly and sustainable green building principles, tailored to the characteristics of the subtropical climate. The project, completed in December 2020 in Changhua County, Taiwan, exemplifies a harmonious blend of functionality and environmental consciousness.

The design team, including Yung-Fang Chen, Jian-Huan Lin, Yu-Chun Wang, and Yu-Ting Chen, meticulously incorporated vertically moving equipment and reorganized the layout of the space after extensive topology research. This innovative approach not only enhances the connection of the space but also ensures convenience, especially for elderly residents.

One of the key design features is the raised ceiling height, facilitating ventilation and allowing heat to escape through strategically positioned windows. Additionally, extended eaves provide shade to combat excessive sunshine, while carefully positioned windows introduce natural daylight and promote ventilation and temperature regulation.

Addressing the needs of the elderly, the design team arranged their living quarters closest to the moving equipment, with thoughtful adjustments to indoor steps and bathroom thresholds. The project also overcame various challenges by utilizing eco-friendly green building materials and recyclable resources such as iron and wood, along with advanced treatments to enhance durability and stain resistance.

Recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity, "Green Generations" was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious accolade acknowledges designs that embody exceptional artistry, technical prowess, and contributions to quality of life improvements.
