Residence Design "Paper Plane" by Hsiang-Chen Lu

UNI GEN's Hsiang-Chen Lu introduces "Paper Plane," a residence design inspired by the hope symbolized by a soaring paper plane. This innovative project, awarded Bronze in A' Design Award 2022, combines semi-industrial elegance with multi-functional spatial design, epitomizing the possibility of "small space, big style." The 43 square meter space features a gentle color palette, warm and vibrant color blocks, and various wooden and stone materials, creating an organic atmosphere.

One of the unique features of "Paper Plane" is the utilization of higher spaces, such as the ceiling at the entrance, as a vertical extra-storage room, ensuring tidiness in the small house. The public area of 16 square meters seamlessly incorporates a dining table, living room, study, and exercise space, with the use of folding hidden tables to maximize functionality.

By overlapping functional spaces and dividing usage based on time and situation, the overall design optimizes space utilization. The irregular tilting veneer and higher recessed ceiling contribute to the fluidity and refreshing vibe of the public area. The project, completed in June 2021, is located in New Taipei City and emphasizes eco-friendly materials and sustainable design practices.
