Mix and Match: A Fun and Original Collection of Wooden Benches and Chairs

João Faria introduces Mix and Match, a collection of wooden benches and chairs designed to bring a touch of fun and originality to commercial spaces. Inspired by classic chairs from the mid-20th century, Mix and Match reimagines these timeless pieces in a playful and decontextualized manner, offering a fresh twist on familiar designs.

Mix and Match is an emotional object that aims to bring a smile to people's faces. The collection offers three sizes of wooden benches and six different chairs to choose from, along with a small table and USB sockets for charging phones and tablets. The customization options are nearly limitless, making each piece a unique and personalized object.

The production process involves creating a wooden bench with holes for fitting chairs, followed by the selection and adaptation of the chairs to be securely embedded in the bench. The materials used include three different wood veneers, lacquer, and a variety of chair materials such as fabric, synthetic leather, polycarbonate, or polypropylene, depending on the model.

Mix and Match is designed for use in hotels, entrances, and commercial buildings, offering a fun and interactive seating experience. The collection was first introduced in the 1st semester of 2019 in Portugal and has since garnered attention for its unique approach to seating design.

João Faria, the creative mind behind Mix and Match, is an architect from Northern Portugal who has dedicated his time to designing objects that hold personal meaning. His brand, Emotional Objects, focuses on creating designs that evoke emotion and bring joy to users. Mix and Match is a testament to this philosophy, offering a playful and customizable seating solution for various commercial settings.
