Madame Butterfly: Opera Posters by Liudmila Shurygina

Renowned graphic designer Liudmila Shurygina unveils "Madame Butterfly," a captivating series of opera posters that encapsulate the emotional essence of iconic operas. Inspired by Malevich's minimalist shapes and Munch's emotional expression, the posters portray the tragic and dependent role of women in operatic plots, symbolizing uncontrolled passion and culminating moments.

Using Adobe Illustrator, Shurygina's posters are designed for both print and digital media, with an ideal production size of 594 x 841 mm. They are printed on high-quality 275g carton paper and are suitable for silk screen printing. Additionally, the posters are adaptable for street displays and digital promotional campaigns.

Starting a year ago in Amsterdam, the project involved extensive research into avant-garde styles, contemporary visual language, and iconology. Overcoming the challenge of finding an iconic representation of tragic opera plots, Shurygina's work has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2021.

Liudmila Shurygina, a Graphic Designer and Art Director Branding based in Amsterdam, combines practical retail design concepts with poster design to create harmonious urban environments. Her energy and passion for design have earned her accolades, including the Golden A' Design Award for her outstanding contributions to the world of art and design.
