Hajime Yoshimoto's Vision Comes to Life in Osaka's Kitashinchi District
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hajime Yoshimoto's latest project, Kissyan Eirakucho Matsu, brings a modern twist to the historical Kitashinchi district of Osaka. Completed in May 2020, this Japanese Grilled Meat Restaurant is a fusion of tradition and contemporary value, aiming to become a new landmark in the area.
The existing building, dating back to 1998, was designed to reflect the cityscape of the Edo period. Yoshimoto's goal was to preserve the existing facade while infusing it with a blend of Japanese tradition and modern aesthetics, creating a dramatic space that harmonizes with the historical surroundings.
The restaurant's unique features include a newly painted original landscape, a moss garden, and a live kitchen experience reminiscent of a "Noh" stage, a traditional Japanese theatrical art. Each private room is designed to represent a different season, adding a touch of Japanese ambiance.
One of the technical highlights of the project is the creation of a pine tree tin relief, symbolizing the Noh stage. This three-dimensional expression posed a creative and technical challenge, requiring meticulous craftsmanship to achieve the desired contemporary value.
Yoshimoto's design studio, VOIGER, has been recognized for its exceptional work, earning the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 for the innovative and practical approach demonstrated in the Kissyan Eirakucho Matsu project.
