Urszula Gireń's Scientific Publication "The Birth of a Book"

Urszula Gireń's project, "The Birth of a Book," draws inspiration from the principles of Renaissance design, focusing on the graphic material necessary to research old European, Polish books. The publication showcases the old prints in real size and the method of their production, presenting a unique insight into the 16th-century book design.

The meticulously designed structure of the publication provides readers with a comprehensive understanding of the methodology of creating books in the 16th century. From the format of the book to the dust jacket and ribbon bookmark, each element aims to familiarize the reader with the intricate process of book production during that era.

Utilizing digital printing and traditional binding techniques, the project culminated in a 560-page publication, featuring 1200 illustrations and detailed information about the printing history in Poland. The meticulous attention to detail and the extensive research make this publication a valuable resource for history enthusiasts and graphic designers alike.
