Renowned Taiwanese Designers Tsung Yen Feng and Jou An Chen Transform Old Storefront into Unique Design Studio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Taiwanese designers Tsung Yen Feng and Jou An Chen have unveiled their award-winning office space design project, "Essence of Humanity," which recently received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. The project, completed in July 2016 after three months of construction, involved the transformation of an old storefront into a design studio in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
The concept behind "Essence of Humanity" was to create a gallery-like studio with a personality under vintage and retro styles, integrating minimalistic, geometric looks with both modern and old tones and textures. The 82 square meters area of the second floor was designed to have a wide feeling and echo the outdoor landscape, achieved through the use of large windows and fluted glass. The space features a display wall for the designers' works and a gradient art wall done by a muralist, creating a tranquil and reserved painting that exudes warmth and humanity.
To make the office space livelier, the designers used everywhere-scenery design techniques, adorning the entrance, gate, and reception with various plants and creating an exceptional Zen garden on the terrace roof. The project faced challenges in executing the special minimalistic, geometric design while preserving the original structure, but the result is an expansive and bright sentiment throughout the space.
