Goolalang: Empowering Kindergarten Children with Creative Programming Tools

Hangzhou Maiyike Technology Co.,Ltd. is proud to introduce Goolalang, a groundbreaking coding educational platform designed specifically for kindergarten children. With the increasing popularity of children's programming education, Goolalang addresses the need for programming languages and tools suitable for young children's physical development and cognitive level. The Goolalang App, based on the innovative Goolalang drag-and-drop programming language, empowers young children to create stories and animations with ease.

The Goolalang App features a unique top-down road interface, with signs representing the direction of the program's execution. As the program runs, footprints mark the path, providing a visual representation of the code in action. This creative approach allows children to write multi-sprite stories and animations using intuitive programming blocks. Additionally, the app offers a series of courses to guide children through the learning process, making it an ideal platform for early programming education.

Developed using a combination of pencil and paper prototypes, Axure RP, Adobe Illustrator for UI design, and Xcode for application development, Goolalang is optimized for iPad devices running iOS 9 and above. The project began at Zhejiang University in China in 2017 and is currently under development by Hangzhou Maiyike Technology Co.,Ltd.

The Goolalang project underwent extensive research and testing, including real user tests with 30 children aged 5-7 and 10 adults, including kindergarten teachers and college students. The results demonstrated a high level of interest and engagement among children, proving the effectiveness of Goolalang in teaching programming to young learners.

Yinghan Jin, the visionary behind Goolalang, and the team at Hangzhou Maiyike Technology Co.,Ltd. overcame significant challenges in designing a programming language that accurately conveys fundamental concepts while remaining accessible to kindergarten children. Their dedication has resulted in a revolutionary platform that is set to transform programming education for young children.
