Linlin Li's Eleware project, a fusion of modern dining culture and traditional Chinese etiquette, aims to revolutionize the dining experience by making it more elegant and less embarrassing.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Linlin Li's Eleware project is a testament to the changing culture and ritual in China, seeking to enhance the dining process through innovative tableware design. Influenced by global cultures, Eleware combines modern dining practices with traditional Chinese etiquette, resulting in a set of tableware that addresses the evolving needs of contemporary dining.
The set features three distinct pieces, each with unique functionalities. The bone plate discreetly conceals the diner's face and bones when spitting them out, while the inclined bottom of the food plate effectively filters out excess oil. The bowl, designed with the same curve as teacups, allows diners to savor their soup akin to enjoying a cup of tea.
Realized through clay throwing, Eleware's technical specifications include dimensions of 140*130*40mm, 140*130*120mm, and 110*100*55mm, emphasizing both form and function. The project, which commenced in April 2017 and concluded in August 2018 in China, was underpinned by extensive research methodologies such as questionnaires, interviews, and design ethnography.
Linlin Li's Eleware project was honored with the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and ability to evoke positive emotions and wonder. The project's success reflects Li's commitment to challenging norms and creating objects that resonate with people on an emotional level.
