Innovative Sport Venue Design

Jian Wu's design for the Qingdao Pingdu Olympic Center is a pioneering approach to sports venue architecture. By combining a swimming pool and basketball gym into a single pavilion, the project optimizes space utilization and resource efficiency, setting a new standard for future sports facilities.

The construction of the center, which includes a 15,000-seats stadium, a 7,000-seats basketball hall, and a 1,500-seats natatorium, demonstrates a fusion of essential and auxiliary functions, resulting in a versatile and efficient space for various activities.

Utilizing a multi-layer frame system, the design simplifies construction while reducing structural costs, making it a model of technical innovation in large-span space architecture. The project's completion in Pingdu, Qingdao city, Shandong Province, China, marks a significant milestone in modern sports facility design.
