Photography Project "Coming of Age"

Ismail Niyaz Mohamed's "Coming of Age" photography project is a stunning portrayal of the traditional Japanese coming of age ceremony, capturing the essence of the transition into adulthood amidst the serene backdrop of Hokokuji Temple's Bamboo Garden in Kamakura. The project draws inspiration from the symbolic significance of bamboo in Japanese culture, symbolizing prosperity, purity, and innocence. The ceremony, held on the second Monday of January each year, marks the formal entry into adulthood for 20-year-olds, signifying increased rights, responsibilities, and liberties within society.

Utilizing a Nikon D4 DSLR and AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm F2.8G ED, Ismail Niyaz Mohamed skillfully realized the project's vision, capturing the intricate details of the traditional attire and the tranquil ambiance of the temple grounds. The technical specifications of the project include a 1/100 sec f2.8, 14mm, and ISO 160, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail in the photography process.
